I think it would be interesting to investigate the number of student athletes that graduate by sport. I would like to look into the graduation rates between many of the big sports on OU’s campus, both men’s and women’s. Which sports graduate the most athletes? Does men’s or women’s sports have higher graduation rates? I think anyone interested in sports would enjoy this project.
Another idea I have is the number of tickets received by OU students by grade. I could take a look at solely DUI’s for students. Or, instead of tickets, possibly just student party habits. Do they drink and drive regularly? Do they prefer bars or house parties? How does this affect grades and class attendance.
Another idea I have is the affect of joining a fraternity or sorority has on social status at OU and the ability to get a job after school. Does joining a frat give a person greater opportunities later in life? Does being in a frat or sorority make students more popular on campus? What are the stereotypes on both sides of the argument?
I believe all of these ideas would be interesting, well, to me at least.
